This
is a Scandinavian gaming community. The most important thing in this
community is to have fun playing the games we love. It’s all about
community. Because of this, many members always return to Polarbears if
they take a break or a detour to another game or guild. We are a mature
settlement in the bottom and some younger members on top. The rules are
set for the community to have fun and enjoy themselves playing their
favorite games the way they want.
The whole story started around 1995 when
Westwood released their first Command & Conquer game. We were some
Norwegian friends who played together in home networks. We were in love
with Westwood and the C&C series. In February 2003 when
C&C Generals released we made the guild official with making our
first homepage and joining a lot of ladders. We played in Norwegian,
Scandinavian and in European leagues. In times we were on top of these
ladders.
In 2004,
Battlefield Vietnam was released; some Polarbears members fell in love
again. And some of the members started a Polarbears division for this
game, and started to explore. The summer in 2005 Battlefield
2 was released and Polarbears was now ready to take BF to another
level. Ladders all over Europe was entered and won. This division is
still active and is waiting for the upcoming Battlefield 3.
In 2004-2005 was
World of Warcarft released, and some of our members found this MMORPG
game very interesting. It was time to make a new division. There is
still a small group of members still playing World of Warcraft.
17 may in 2008;
many of us entered a new journey in Funcom’s MMORPG Age of Conan. With
lots of anticipation many of Polarbears members were rushing in to the
“FURY” server. Some of us loved the new world; some hated the problems,
glitches and bugs that were in the game at the beginning. After 6
months it was only the biggest fans that were left on the fury server.
Open PVP was not for the members of Polarbears, so after a year on Fury
we changed server to “Crom” and made a huge comeback with hundreds of
new members coming back trying the game for the second time. Polarbears
is still active in Age of Conan.
We also have small settlement
in other games, so don't be suprised if you find a Polarbears or Rant
guild or clan around. In all our games we play in, we have the same set
of rules for all members, and community is the most important in all of
them.
Betveen 2008-2011 #rant
emerged, a few people that usually talked to eachother on a IRC-server
had a channel called #rant, as it seems those people had a common
intrest of online gaming, the common thing here was a larger base of
"older" players and a few youngers.
One in that channel happend
to be a member and one of officers in Polarbears, it came naturally to
merge the guilds to one and start doing things togheter and get a wider
playerbase of scandinavian gamers.
In october 2011 the
old going gang from the early battlefield games awakened with great
anticipation when the followup Battlefield 3 was released. There was
said that this game would take back the old essence of the series.
After a couple of month this was proven not to be true and the
Battlefield section of Polarbears decided for now just to play this as
fun between other doings. A home made website was made for this, and
can be found here. (Since this site is on a home computer, it is sometimes down).
Late 2011,
December 16, the first PB Rant members stormed the Star Wars - The Old
Republic server "Ahto City" and joined forces with the Imperial side.
Right now when this was written the war was rumbeling and will do so
for a long time. PB Rant have set up a site for this section and you
can find it here. Whats to come in 2012?
We will start in the most anticipating game The Secret World with Ronmel as Leader. We will try to start up in the following games:
Diablo 3 - Need Leaders Guild War II - Need Leaders
Leaders of today, January 2012:
Ronmel - The Secret World Bearmatic - Battlefield
Dawee is leading Polarbears brother guild "Rant" in Star Wars: The Old Repuplic
- Several officers are appointed for each game. The founders of Polarbears are:
Ronmel, Saba, Vukkies and Sabot.
